5 things to eat to keep yourself hydrated this summer!

With limited rains, this summer month can make you go dehydrated easily because of the rise in temperature and it is important for us all to keep our body hydrated.

Here is what you can eat to keep yourself hydrated.

1. Watermelon


With no doubts, Watermelon is something that shouldn’t be avoided for this summer.

Watermelon consists of approximately 92% water, which makes it a perfect food to eat for hydration. Watermelon is also notably high in Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin C. Try combining watermelon with feta, arugula, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction for a perfect, fresh summer salad.

2. Cucumber


Cucumbers consist of approximately 95% water, but they also have a high concentration of potassium and polyphenols, which can help to lower inflammation. Try mixing cucumbers with tomatoes, avocado, and a lemon vinaigrette for a light and easy side salad for your summer BBQ.

3. Yoghurt

Fruits and veggies aren’t the only foods that can hydrate you. Yoghurt is actually is quite high in water content (up to 85% in fact!) and is a great source of electrolytes, protein, calcium, and probiotics that promote healthy gut bacteria. To make easy yoghurt berry popsicles, blend 2 cups of berries in a blender, mix with 2 cups of Greek yoghurt and add 2 tbsp of honey. Freeze into 6 popsicle moulds, and enjoy a healthy summer treat.

4. Ice apple or Nungu

Famously called as Nungu, this popular fruit is also rich in Vitamin A, B and C, Iron, Zinc, Phosphorous, Potassium and lots more which is good for the human body. If you are suffering from chickenpox, this juicy fruit provides a cooling effect that can reduce the itchiness. Above all, this is a natural coolant food for the body during the summer season. It is the best summer fruits you should consume to beat the heat.

5. Coconut juice

Coconut water is a delicious, nutritious and natural beverage that’s extremely good for you. It may benefit your heart, blood sugar, kidney health and more. Although controlled studies are needed to confirm many of these qualities, the research to date is encouraging. If you start sipping away at this tropical drink, just be sure to avoid products with added sugar.
