1.Muruganantham was a newly married man who discovered that his wife has been using unhygienic rags during her menstruation cycle each month.
2.To resolve her unhygienic practices, Muruganantham wanted to make pads himself, but initially, failed to succeed in his attempt.
3.Padman started experimenting his products on his wife and sisters but was dejected after they declined to use them after few Trials.
4.The tireless, Muruganantham even approached medical students to use his product, but they rejected his attempt too.
6.Padman had to wear the pad and had to tie a bottle with animal blood that would squeeze blood. He used to ride cycles wearing the pad, to check the quality of the pad.
7.Eventually, people started branding him as a ‘pervert’ after looking at how ‘desperate’ he was with menstruation and finding a solution for it.
9.Subsequent to 2 years of adept research, Muruganantham nailed it. He developed a way to manufacture a good quality sanitary pad at home.
10.Padman’s cost-effective sanitary manufacturing machines are available across India and are procured abroad too.
11.Times Magazine featured Muruganantham as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World, in 2014.
12.Muruganantham was conferred with Padma Shri by Government of India in 2016.
14.Directed by Balki, Padman starring Akashay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor is the first Indian film about Arunachalam Muruganantham. This film is produced by Mrs Funnybones, owned by Twinkle Khanna. And it was her vision to bring the story of Real Padman to Reel Padman.
15.A school dropout, who worked at various labourer jobs, has created history. He is now a public speaker who inspires millions sitting at IITs and Harvard.
